Sum up:

The word of Jesus Christ will be spread no matter what.

This week was the best! (And sometimes the worst.) Our friend James came to church again. He was so good to help with the toddler in the branch while his mum gave a talk. James likes to ask questions that can be challenging but I love it because it shows he is sincere. We're hoping to meet his family this week.

Missionary work in Guernsey is not easy, but I don't think it is a walk in the park anywhere in the world. It is easy to ask why it is so hard. This is the true church, we believe in the ministering of angels, why aren't people running to accept it? But we remember our Saviour and his anguish. Even in His perfect example he cried out to the Father in desperation. "Nevertheless, not my will, but thine, be done." Salvation of souls is not easy because it was never easy for Him. I am humbled so that I can continue to rely on the Lord. I know that as I do so, all things are possible. I could fly if He needed me to.

A good friend reminded me that we go through some sort of "refiner's fire" to purify us. We each go through our own trials but we can continually "come unto Christ and be perfected in Him." The work of God cannot be stopped. I read this morning in the book of Acts about the early saints being persecuted by Saul. In chapter 8 it says:
3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

They traveled beyond Judea to avoid persecution, but really Saul was just helping accelerate the expansion of the church because they continued to preach the word. The book of Acts has the common theme of intense persecution, "But the word of God grew and multiplied." (Acts 12:24). Many of the books in the Bible were written to encourage them through these troubled times.

The Book of Mormon was written for our day (see Mormon 8:35). The Prophet Joseph Smith taught:
The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.

I am so grateful to be an advocate for truth. I am grateful I know about the restored gospel. Jesus Christ lives today. His true doctrine is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is actively granting His love and mercy to individuals who reach out to Him. Reach out, call out, cry out, and feel His love.
